Day 35- 1 Chronicles 1-10

Chronicles is difficult to read because the first nine chapters are nothing more than genealogies, with the names mostly unpronounceable. Also after reading 1st and 2nd Kings, people are puzzled why so many of the same stories are repeated in Chronicles, so they decide its not worth reading…

Hahaha yes it’s not easy to read all those names..

And oh..!! So that’s the reason for such similar accounts in both Kings & Chronicles.. Thanks pd for explaining, it really helps! I was REALLY wondering why it seemed similar but then again not so similar. Now it makes sense.. Haha

Day 30- 2 Samuel 21-24, 1 Kings 1-6

David had sinned by foolishly counting the number of fighting men in his army. This was in direct violation to the instruction of the Lord because the issue for David and Israel was never how many fighting men there were. Their strength was not in numbers, but in the Lord, who went into battle…

Ohhhh so this was the first time where king and priest came as one.. Royal priesthood… So interesting… In the OT, not many could be royal priesthood only those who were of royalty like David.. But now, I am a royal priesthood through Jesus. Wow, this is really very interesting and amazing. God loves me so so much…

"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light.” (1 Peter 2:9)

Day 29- 2 Samuel 11-20

At a time when David should have been on the battlefield, he finds himself instead on the roof of the palace. A casual glance…a lustful thought…an inquiry that he had no business getting and David sets in motion a chain of events that culminates in adultery, then murder.

David tried to hide…

How important it is to guard our minds…

Day 21- Joshua 11-20

Caleb was a man whom the bible said 3 times in 7 verses that he “wholly followed the Lord.” (14:8-9, 14) Caleb knew what it meant to claim the promises of God, then move out by faith to possess what God had promised.

In chapter 14 the Caleb we find, is no longer a young man. The last time…

Wow, Caleb really waited very long to claim the promise God gave to him! 45 years is no joke.. (imagine waiting 45 years for something God promised to you), yet throughout that time He never once forgot what God told him. He didn’t lose faith and not trust the words of God. He wasn’t angry or doubted God’s promises. Heh, I can learn a lot from Caleb.

Day 20: Joshua 1 - 10 (Haha decided to try doing my own commentary!)

I noticed that despite the fact that the Gibeonites were known to be, "a great city, like one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all its men were warriors." Yet, they still (greatly) feared the Israelites, because God was with them. He does things in which we think are impossible.

This reminds me of the time where the Israelites (during Moses’ time) were afraid of the descendants of Anak, because in their sight, they were strong and mighty. Sometimes, even in our sight (in the case of the Israelites - grasshoppers), it may seem that nothing is going right or we may seem “small” and think that we are incapable. But as we obey God, trust in Him knowing that He’s in control (faith), He will see things through and miracles that seems impossible to us will happen. Just like what He did for the Israelites, as Joshua led them to conquer Southern Canaan.

Day 5- Genesis 41-50

While reading the closing 10 chapters of Genesis, I am so amazed at how Joseph; a man whose character is centered in faith and complete trust in God, handled life’s challenges.

He refused to allow his situation to control him. He was devoted to serving God and man with honor and dependability…
